Custom Fields

Custom Fields Master helps to add new fields in Transaction and Master.

Steps to Create Custom Fields

  1. On the Tools menu, in Designer Group, click the Custom Fields. The Custom Fields window opens as a tab in the workspace.
  2. On left hand side i.e. Custom Fields frame, the user can search and select the already created Custom Fields by clicking on the Search icon.
  3. By default the Code which is the Custom Field Code gets automatically generated and is populated on the confirmation message.
  1. The workspace is divided into two parts. The Left hand side is the Custom Fields frame and the Right hand side is the Custom Fields Details frame.

The user has to simply fill the details one by one as below:

  • Name: Here the user needs to enter the Custom Field name.
  • Description: Here the user needs to enter the Descriptions.
  • Object Type: Here the user needs to click on search icon and select the Transaction Name on which the user wants to add the custom field e.g. Sale Order.

 

Details to be entered on the Custom Fields tab:

  • Label:Here the user needs to enter the Label name.
  • Sequence: Once the label name is entered, the sequence gets automatically populated.
  • Control Type: Here the user needs to select the control type from the dropdown list.
  • Is Compulsory: If the user wants to make the custom field compulsory for the transaction check this box.
  • Mask Type: Select mask type as Simple, Numeric and Date Time (For date and time format) etc.
  • Mask: Enter mask format. E.g. for mask type Date the mask is mm:dd:yy.
  • Max Length: Enter max length. (Max length if control type is text box). For e.g. if max length is 15, custom field will not accept the values more than 15 character or number.
  • Show In Report: If the user wants to show this field in report, check this box.
  • Is In Active: If the user wants to make the field inactive, check this box.
  1. Press Ctrl S or click the Save button on the Quick Access Toolbar to save the Custom Field.
  2. Click Yes button for the message ‘Are you sure you want to Save.’
  3. Click OK button for the message Custom Fields: ‘xxx’ has been saved successfully’.

 

Example to Create Custom Fields

Let’s add the Custom Fields as ‘Website’ and ‘Date’ on Sale Invoice.

  1. Follow Step 1 to Step 4 up to ‘The user has to simply fill the details one by one as below:’ from ‘Steps to Create Custom Fields’

Details to be entered on the Custom Fields tab.

  • Label:Here the user needs to enter label name as Website in 1st row and create one more row and enter label name as Date.
  • Sequence: Once the label name is entered sequence automatically gets populated.
  • Control Type: Here the user needs to select control type as RnR Text Box for Website and RnR Date for Date.
  • Is Compulsory: Check this box if user needs to make it compulsory.
  • Mask Type: Select mask type as Simple or leave it for Website and Date Time for Date.
  • Mask: Enter mask format mm:dd:yyyy for Date.
  • Max Length: Enter max length 20 for Website.
  • Show In Report: Check this box if user needs to show this field in report.
  • Is In Active: Check this box if user needs to keep this field inactive.

NOTE: When the user add any new custom field. The Custom tab is created on the particular transaction or master.

  1. Press Ctrl S or click the Save button on the Quick Access Toolbar to save the Custom Field.
  2. Click Yes button for the message ‘Are you sure you want to Save.’
  3. Click OK button for the message Custom Fields: ‘xxx’ has been saved successfully’.
  4. Now open sale invoice and see the created fields under Custom Field tab.

NOTE: Log off from the application and log in again to see the effect of the Field Designer. Open the particular document or master or report to see the changes.
